Among Scotland’s most prestigious and prolific artists, Greenock’s James Watt has a portfolio of paintings that spans over half a century.

The Beacon Arts Centre hosted an exhibition of over 70 painting by James Watt RGI, from individual and corporate collections alongside new work at the Beacon, Custom House Quay, Greenock, PA15 1HJ on Thursday 27th June 2013.

The evening also marked the launch of a stunning new book to coincide with the exhibition, ‘The Clyde, an artist’s river’ along with an essay by Alf Young and the unveiling of a new piece to commemorate the Greenock Arts Guild building.

 The Beacon Arts Centre opened in January 2013 on the former dockyard and waterfront location where many of the exhibits were painted, most of the paintings were completed outside & in an afternoon.
